Hunter Turner
Professional Counselor Associate
My name is Hunter Turner and I am a professional counselor associate working towards licensure. I grew up here in Eugene and have grown to love and become deeply involved in the community over the years. I am an extrovert who enjoys a good sense of humor, errs on the side of being a realist, and finds joy in relational depth. In my free time, I love playing games with friends, going for a run in the afternoon sunshine, eating tacos, traveling, and relaxing with my family.
I enjoy working with people of all different backgrounds. An important aspect of my own background is that I am a Christian. While my beliefs have uniquely shaped my worldview and understanding of wellness, I place a high value on respecting each client as a whole person – beliefs, lifestyle, and background – similar or different from my own.
Hunter's Approach
I believe my role as a therapist is to explore the relationships between a person’s mental, emotional, spiritual, physical and relational health, and then collaborate on possible helpful adjustments. I strive to meet each person where they are at, foster a safe space for them to share honestly, help them utilize their strengths and existing supports, and equip them with tools to deal with the difficulties they experience. While I pull from a variety of therapeutic models to fit the needs of each person, I tend to use concepts and tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, attachment theory, strengths-based and person-centered therapy.
