Carrie Laird-Myers, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor

Life can seem overwhelming at times. Certain life events or traumas that we experience can impact our relationships, how we handle life, and our mental health. The difficulties we endure can lead us to experience anxiety, depression, and other intense feelings. My role as your counselor is to provide you with a safe space where you can process difficult experiences, identify strengths within yourself, and learn coping skills to manage the difficulties throughout life. I see the relationship between client and counselor as key in all my therapeutic interventions and work to create trust and confidence.

My name is Carrie Laird-Myers. I am a professional counselor associate. I am an Oregon native and live in Albany with my husband and two children. I enjoy the outdoors, baking, and spending time with my family. I feel we can get lost in the busyness of life and forget to leave time for ourselves. Therapy is a way to help balance our lives and allow us to explore and find ways to live our best life.

Carrie's Approach

My approach to therapy is to help individuals discover strengths within themselves, learn coping skills to manage life’s difficult moments better, strengthen self-esteem, and promote behavior change to help an individual feel a balance of fulfillment and contentment in their lives. The most critical aspect of effective therapy is the therapeutic relationship between the individual and clinician. I think it is important to earn the trust of my clients and give them unconditional positive regard to help them through their journey and find ways to live their best life.

I utilize several different modalities; these include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), social cognitive therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, collaborative problem solving, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help each client’s needs. I provide every person with a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment. I take a client-led approach to ensure a beneficial therapeutic relationship to help you on your journey.
