Shirah Canaga, LPC, NCC

Licensed Professional Counselor, Clinical Supervisor

My name is Shirah Canaga. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Oregon. I was born and raised in Oregon and feel blessed to be an Oregonian. I enjoy spending time with my family, being active through sports, such as basketball, and spending free time doing many outdoor activities. Additionally I love to bake and cook.

I’m a wife and mama of two little children. I value the struggles and joys of motherhood. I’m a Christian who loves my relationship with Jesus and other people. Putting my faith in Jesus has changed my life. However, I do welcome all people from different walks of life and religions. I have been working in the counseling field since 2018 and I look forward to working with my clients everyday. Helping people and impacting lives is an incredible job. I’m blessed to be able to serve my clients.

Shirah’s Approach

My approach to therapy is eclectic.  I see a wide range of adults, children, and couples.  I’m passionate about helping maternal and postpartum mental health. I enjoy the challenge of using my therapy toolbox to find the most effective methods to address each individual’s needs. My EMDR certification allows me to use a trauma-focused and person-centered approach to help complete the client’s therapy goals.. I believe people can become more in balance with themselves and in their relationships by understanding themselves and becoming aware of their needs, choices, and issues. I provide psychoeducation around the brain, limbic system, and nervous system. I use polyvagal and EMDR interventions to help people understand their nervous systems.
