Marissa “Mari” Dayley
Professional Counselor Associate
I am a professional counselor associate working towards full licensure. I grew up in Washington State where I learned to love the rainy weather we so often see here in Eugene. I love creating and enjoying deep connections with friends, spending time outside, listening to and playing music, and reading up on interesting topics. I have always been passionate about helping people feel a little safer in their day-to-day lives. I chose to work as a counselor so I could help provide individuals with the acceptance and compassion that we all need to thrive in our lives. I like to collaborate with clients in creating an environment that allows for feelings of safety and understanding, which allows for greater growth and understanding of self as we work towards practical goals to make changes that will benefit your mental health.
Mari's Approach
My counseling style is client-centered, non-judgmental, trauma-informed, and multicultural where I often use a systems and feminist lens. Acknowledging and navigating your identity and understanding how we each fit in the systems we live in can be a very important part of a healing journey. I naturally lean towards using evidence-based counseling methods such as emotion-focused therapy (EFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and interpersonal psychotherapy, and I want to work within a modality that feels like it fits your worldview and internal experience. I value using compassion and acceptance as vital parts of the healing process. I have an active interest in pursuing further training in sensorimotor and other somatic approaches, experiential therapy, and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
