COUNSELING & PSYCHOTHERAPY for Children, Teenagers, Adults and Couples

Tony Reeser, LPC-Intern

I am a US Army veteran, born and raised here in the Pacific Northwest, where I continue to reside with my wife of almost 20 years. I am a Christ-follower, and while that faith shapes the way I view the world and people, I have worked with people from multiple faiths and cultural backgrounds, while respecting their personal beliefs and practices. I work with a variety of people treating anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Psychotherapy and counseling can be helpful in a variety of issues. You can ask for my help if you have challenges in the the following areas:

Depression and Sadness

Anxiety, Panic, Worry or Stress

Trauma and PTSD, single event trauma's or complex trauma (abusive childhood or relationships).

Marriage and Relationship challenges

Approach

My Approach to counseling is that individuals will naturally move towards health when roadblocks are cleared. My aim as a therapist is to help the client identify those roadblocks. Carl Jung, a psychologist from the early twentieth century, once stated, “Until you make the unconscious – conscious, it will continue to guide your life, and you will call it fate.” Unconscious motivators lose much of their power when they are brought into our awareness. In this awareness, change becomes possible. A roadblock has been identified and can now be moved. I have a genuine sense of joy when I witness a client have an “aha!” moment of insight, in which, they begin to connect the dots.

Therapeutic Focus

My personality is friendly and welcoming, which allows personal connections to be made quickly. I aim to foster an environment where individuals can feel safe and free from judgment. EMDR is often the main modality I utilize, but I also employ an eclectic mix of therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt therapies. The one thing that makes healing possible, above any form of therapy, is when you and I are allied with a common purpose.

Experience

Since 2018, I have provided counseling to community members at Northwest Christian University Clinic, Oregon EMDR, and Veritas Community Counseling serving a variety of populations.
