Arise Eugene

My name is Michelle Wong, and I am a Clinical Social Work Associate in the State of Oregon. Growing up in Hawaii has influenced my deep appreciation and respect for people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities and beliefs. I welcome people from all walks of life and enjoy supporting individuals on their unique journeys. Eugene is my new beloved home where I enjoy time in the garden, exploring outdoor spaces and relaxing with my feline kittos. I love meeting new people and connecting.

Approach

My therapeutic approach is heart-centered, collaborative and holistic appreciating the integral connection between the mind, body and spirit. I aim to cultivate a safe, nurturing and supportive space of open presence, respect, acceptance and meaningful exploration. Clients know themselves best, and I strive to deeply listen and facilitate a process of self-discovery and integration. I gently guide clients at their pace toward identifying habits and barriers, deepening self-awareness with patience and compassion, and trusting in their innate wisdom and ability to heal. It is my honor to be of support on a journey toward healing and wholeness.

“As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.”

~ Rumi

Therapeutic Focus

My work with clients is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion. I am also influenced by traditional loving-kindness practices as a longtime student of meditation. I am also trained in Thought Field Therapy (TFT) and may utilize “tapping” (from TFT or Emotional Freedom Technique methods) with interested clients as a tool complementary to therapy.

Experience

I have counseled adults across the lifespan dealing with depression, anxiety and various life transitions. I also worked as a hospice volunteer for several years and supported individuals

dealing with grief and loss.

Formal Training and Education

I am a Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA license number A-4543) through the State of Oregon and working toward my Licensed Clinical Social Worker licensure. I have a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Bachelor of Arts degree in liberal arts. I have received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Mindful Self-Compassion and Thought Field Therapy (basic algorithms). I am also preparing to learn Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Though I am not required as a CSWA to participate in continuing education, I regularly attend trainings and workshops to enhance my skills and knowledge and better serve my clients’ needs.
