Approach
Approach
I am an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained therapist with an Attachment and Somatic focus, as well as a trained Play Therapist and Sensorimotor Student.
My theoretical orientation is consistent with my approach to treatment as EMDR and play therapy are more "experiential" processes rather than traditional "talk" therapies and research has shown lead to lasting results. I believe therapy is most beneficial and successful when there is a positive working relationship
based on collaboration and alignment toward a common goal.
Therapeutic Focus
Therapeutic Focus
As such, I aim to offer an open, inviting and warm atmosphere where all feel free to be themselves, are able to find a comfortable way to communicate and feel free of bias or judgement. I welcome feedback, questions and often integrate sensory work, play, art,
music and movement into sessions based on client need and preference, as I believe each individual communicates and processes in their own unique way.
Experience
Experience
I have worked as a Clinical Social worker since 2005 in a variety of settings including: community mental health centers, school districts and group practices. Prior to beginning work in this field, I mentored several children, tutored children in after school programs and volunteered in my local community.
