Arise Albany

My name is Carrie Laird-Myers. I am a Professional Counselor Associate. I am an Oregon native and live in Albany with my husband and two children. I enjoy the outdoors, baking, and spending time with my family. I feel we can get lost in the busyness of life and forget to leave time for ourselves. Therapy is a way to help balance our lives and help us to explore and find ways to live our best life.

Approach

My approach to therapy is to help individuals to discover strengths within themselves, learn coping skills to better manage through life’s difficult moments, strengthen self-esteem, and promote behavior change to help individual to feel a balance of fulfillment and contentment in their live. The most important aspect of effective therapy is the therapeutic relationship between the individual and clinician. I feel it is important to not only earn the trust of my clients, but also give them unconditional positive regard to help them through their journey and find ways to live their best life.

Therapeutic Focus

I utilize several different modalities, these include Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Social Cognitive Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT) so that I can help the needs of each client. I provide each and every person with a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment. I take a client-led approach to ensure a beneficial therapeutic relationship to help you on your journey.

Experience

I have over 7 years of experience as a professional counselor associate that include working in a residential setting with children and teens as well as out-patient services. Before becoming a counselor, I worked as a skills trainer in a residential setting for over 8 years helping children with behavioral issues, teens with severe depression, suicidal ideation, and self-harm behaviors, and teens in a Secure Adolescent-Inpatient facility.

Formal Training and Education

I graduated from Oregon State University with my Undergraduate BA in Psychology and a minor in Social Science. I have my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University.
