Approach

Therapy is so much more than an expensive cup of coffee and someone to talk to. In my opinion, the primary factors needed for true therapeutic change are trust, intrinsic motivation, dedication, education, and support.

I approach therapy by first earning the trust of my clients and focusing on their needs and therapeutic preferences to build rapport. While normalizing their experiences, I aim to empower their strengths to foster intrinsic motivation towards overall positive change.

By providing unconditional positive regard and validating their subjective experiences I am able to support their journey, provide the necessary psychoeducation and guide them through a variety of difficulties in this crazy ride called life.

Therapeutic Focus

I employ an eclectic and Person-Centered approach to therapy to adapt to my client’s therapeutic preferences.

Person-centered therapy (also known as Client-centered) may seem self-explanatory; however, it espouses the idea that the client is their own expert, and they are in the driver’s seat of their therapeutic journey. Person-centered therapy is a non-directive form of talk therapy that allows the client to lead the conversation and relies on one singular quality, unconditional positive regard. Unconditional positive regard essentially promotes a nonjudgmental, genuine, and empathic experience to support the client within their therapeutic process. Some goals of person-centered therapy may include facilitating personal growth and development, alleviating feelings of distress, strengthening self-esteem and the capacity to be open to new experiences and enhancing the client’s understanding of themselves. It is my job as your therapist to support your process by acting as a sounding board, validating your experiences and providing an empathetic environment that helps you build trust within myself to begin tackling some of the things you are currently struggling with.

Experience

I have been working within the field of counseling since 2017 years providing individual, couples and/or family therapy to children, adolescents, teenagers, adults, and elderly individuals from a variety of cultural backgrounds. I believe that as a counselor I will continue to learn new modalities and techniques throughout the course of my professional career to best serve the needs of my clients from all walks of life and diagnostic presentations.

I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Pacific Oregon University School of Graduate Psychology.

Prior to graduate school, I attended Union College in Barbourville, KY where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I obtained my Associates Degree from Southwestern Oregon Community College in Coos Bay, OR.
